What Steps Should You Take After a Bicycle Accident?

When you ride a bike and have an accident with an automobile, guess who wins -- it's usually not the bike. Injuries can be severe, and there are certain things that you need to do to protect your rights.
1. Make sure there is an accident report -- make sure that if there are any witnesses at the scene that you get their statements (at least get their names and phone numbers). Make certain that this happens
2. You need to document your injuries. Because an accident with a bicycle usually means some severe injuries you need to go to the doctor -- you need to get some help.
3. You need to call a lawyer -- you need to get someone who understands insurance, and you might even need an accident reconstructionist, someone who can go in after the fact and draw up exactly what happened and how it happened.
