Michael received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Belhaven University, and his Juris Doctor degree from Mississippi College School of Law. While in law school, Michael was a member of the Moot Court Board and president of the student chapter of the Christian Legal Society. He also served as an intern with the Mississippi Workers’ Compensation Commission. Prior to law school, Michael worked as a claims adjuster for a Mississippi-based insurance company, and after law school, his initial practice primarily involved defending insurance companies. In these positions, he obtained invaluable experience in all aspects of claims handling and defense – experience that he now utilizes in representing individuals in their claims against insurance companies.
Michael joined Richard Schwartz & Associates in 2013, and his practice is now primarily dedicated to helping injured and disabled Mississippians.
Michael is a member of the Mississippi Bar Association and licensed to practice before all Mississippi state and federal courts. He also serves on the board of the Mississippi Workers’ Compensation Educational Association, of which he is the former president. Michael is also a Kids’ Chance Mediator, and he donates a portion of his mediation fees to the Kids’ Chance of Mississippi scholarship fund, which awards scholarships to qualifying children whose parents were seriously or fatally injured on the job.
