Countless military veterans are filing lawsuits against 3M, an earplug manufacturing company. Our very own Jackson personal injury lawyer, Richard Schwartz, is committed to advocating on behalf of veterans who deserve nothing but justice for everything they have been through. The Justice Department settled a lawsuit with 3M over dangerous design defects, alleging 3M sold these defective earplugs for over 10 years. Without admitting liability, 3M paid the government but has not addressed the hundreds of servicemen and women who are suffering from this misconduct.
Military members should never have to risk their lives with the fear of being provided with faulty or defective equipment. A previous lawsuit alleged 3M illegally manipulated testing procedures, knowingly giving military service members earplugs which would leave them vulnerable to the dangers of combat.
Because of this deliberate deception, numbers of veterans are now suffering from hearing loss, ringing, and tinnitus. Joseph Junk and David Henderson, veterans who fulfilled their duty to this country, are now pursuing compensation for their suffering. “It wasn’t an omission. It wasn’t something missed. It was deliberately lying to gain money and hurting our service members,” says Henderson. For Junk, the aftereffects have left him completely debilitated. “What is quiet? What’s peace? I know for me personally, I don’t have it. All I hear is ringing if there’s no noise around me. If I do not have noise around me, it’s maddening. It is torture.”
3M earplugs have currently been discontinued. You can read more about this developing CBS news story by clicking here.
